New news (2025)
New publications in the meantime (outcomes of the ESPRIT project): on epistemic environmentalism in Canadian Journal of Philosophy, on woke attention in Australasian Journal of Philosophy (forthcoming), and on conceptual inflation in Philosophical Studies (forthcoming).
I'm co-editing a topical collection of Synthese on Collective Attention (with Katharine Browne and Sebastian Watzl). Call for papers (deadline 30 September 2025). This is related to the workshop we organized at the end of 2024; but everyone is welcome to submit, regardless of whether they participated in the workshop.
Old news (2021-24)
I received an ESPRIT fellowship from FWF to join the University of Vienna for three years with a project on engineering concepts to improve patterns of attention in society. I started in June 2023.
"Epistemic Paternalism via Conceptual Engineering" has been published online first at the Journal of the American Philosophical Association.
"Attentional Progress by Conceptual Engineering" is now available online, open access (thanks to University of Cologne and Projekt DEAL).
I gave a talk at the 5th meeting of the Nordic Network in Metaphysics, in person (!) in Lund, November 12-13, 2021.Â
My paper "Attentional Progress by Conceptual Engineering" was accepted for publication in Metaphilosophy (special issue entitled "New Directions in Metaphilosophy," guest edited by Yafeng Shan). It's about how we can configure philosophers' patterns of attention for the better, and thereby contribute to philosophical progress, by engineering the concepts that philosophers use.
I organized an online workshop on Conceptual Engineering in Epistemology (2-3 December 2021).
Check out my talk at Social Ontology 2021.
